How was nuclear war avoided??

How was nuclear war avoided?

Cuba missile crisis is a event which cause a great public nervous, cause it was really close to a nuclear war between US and the Soviet Union. In this nervous situation, how can these two countries avoid the war happened?
In my opinion this war can be avoid is because of the clam and the communication between the two countries. When US found out there was missiles in Cuba if they just use force to make Soviet Union remove the missiles there might be a war, but the US use calm to face this problem, the discussed this problem and try to find out a way which can solve this problem peacefully. Then they went on the next step, the communicate with the Soviet Union, they didn’t stand still and tell Soviet Union to remove the missiles with no requite, they try to make deal with Soviet Union in order to end this problem.
After all the reason how the nuclear war was avoided is because they solve this problem calmly and they communicate with others, otherwise the nuclear war might really happened.

Do you think the Atomic Bomb was a wise or unwise decision?

Do you think the Atomic Bomb was a wise or unwise decision? Please use information learned and discussed in class to support your argument? You essay needs to written in essay form (Introduction/thesis, Body, and Conclusion).

World War II ended in September 15th ,1945, and it ended by the two atomic bomb which dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki by US. These two bomb caused a disaster in Japan, it killed almost 200,000 people. The drop of atomic bomb did end the war, but is the atomic bomb a wise decision?
In my opinion I don’t think it was a wise decision. The reason is that before US drop the atomic bomb, they don’t really know how powerful the atomic bomb is and what damage will it cause. However, I don’t think the atomic bomb is necessary, firs, there were already more than 60 cities in Japan were destroyed, and Japan were ready to call it quits. America don’t have to drop the bomb to force Japan to surrender. Besides, if the bomb in Hiroshima is necessary, when US decided to bomb Nagasaki, they didn’t gave Japan enough time to went over its devastation. Also the bomb spend 2 billion on its development, it makes me felt like US through the bomb because they don’t want to waste the money. Second, the two city they dropped the bomb in were of limited military value. Civilians outnumbered troops in Hiroshima five or six to one. There weren’t lots of solders, the people who lived there are ordinary citizens, but the bomb killed 200,000 of them.
These are my reason why I don’t think the atomic bombs were a wise decision, it not only cause the damage in the city and killed people, but also pollute the environmental. The benefit they can got is less than the disadvantages they gave, it didn’t worth it.

Benjamin Button

The similarly with scientific method, in the Benjamin Button, they wanted to make a movie that the main character is aging backward, but their technology in early ninety can’t do this, and this is their problem. They tried many different ways to make the face of the character more human. And their first step is “ admit you have a problem”. After some discuss, they know what problem they have to solve, then they go on to the second step - break the problem down, they make the Big problem in to several small problems. And they find out what they can do now and focus on it. They first put the special marker on human’s face, but it didn’t work really well, many details on your face can not be shown. Form this mistake, they realize what they should change, they went out of art and went in technology’s territory, like video games. And base on many research they found out that the “contour” is the most effective way to do it.
Their stage of making the Benjamin is just like scientist doing a experiment. They find out the problem they had and break it into small parts and then solve it.

Paul Baumer

Paul Baumer:

He is a young German solider. For me, he is a person who is really sensitive and kind. At first, he thought that join the war was a thing that you can be proud of, but after join the war, he found out that the war was a diverter, people lose their humanity, they just keep killing each others.
The most important thing for Baumer are his friends in the front. When he has the opportunity to go home, he found out that he can't “fit” in; he wanted to go back to the front with all his friends. At the train camp, he met some starving Russian prisoners, and Baumer shared his food with them, and they made Baumer realized that their enemies are not faceless creature, but human beings. Baumer started appose the killing, cause he knew that the person you killed is also a human, he has his won family, his family will be sorrowful about his death, just like his family. Although Baumer is a soldier who fight this war, but the war didn’t make him lost his humanity and sensitive.
But during the war, Baumer lost all his friends, they all dead during the fight and all dead before Baumer dead. Baumer is amazed that he is still alive and this made Baumer really painful.
At last, Baumer on a "quiet day on the Western Front." He is killed by anti-climatic, but actually, losing all his friends kills him.

Submarine SMASH Day Reflection

1. Summarize --
-- What did we do for SMASH Day?
Used the thing that we are given to make a telescope that can find out what kind of treasure is in the island.
-- What was your mission?
Find out what is in the box using the telescope our team made.
-- What supplies were you given? 10 papers, 4 mirrors, 2 long tape, 1 piece of thick cardboard.

2. Reflect
-- How many times did you have to modify your design?
2 times...maybe..

-- How did you know that you should modify your design?

We try with the practice box, when we can't see well or we can't hold it without our hands out of the "water", we changed/ fixed our telescope.

-- How did you know what to do when you modified it?

We try it with the practice box, and we can know what should we do.

-- How did your team communicate to decide how to modify your design?
One of us give us a big picture of our telescope, and then we gather ideas or gave so feedback.
3. Tips and Suggestions
-- If you could give a list of tips and suggestions to someone who is doing this for the first time, what would it be?What would you tell them to help them out?

Don't oppose to others, after others finish their ideas then you can said your ideas or commons. If you have any ideas, just said don't keep it. The most important thing is do not oppose others ideas or laugh at their ideas.
